Beyond 5-7-5: The Essentials of English Language Haiku

With:
Barbara Sabol

The haiku poem is a lens that brings the natural world into focus in three highly condensed lines. In this workshop we’ll examine the essential features of the modern haiku poem and review examples by contemporary haiku poets. Writing exercises and prompts will help participants generate their own poems. Resources for reading and submitting your own haiku for publication will be provided. This is a workshop for writers at every level of experience, or for those who are just interested in learning about the haiku form.
