An endowed gift can name a scholarship in honor of a family or individual. Endowed scholarships at Literary Cleveland are a great way to leave a legacy. Our Development team can help guide you in setting up an endowment with specific criteria program to benefit specific types of writers or programs.

A planned gift can offer benefits to you today while creating a lasting impact for Literary Cleveland’s future. With a variety of flexible giving options, you may be able to make a more meaningful contribution than you ever imagined, leaving a lasting legacy for the literary community we cherish.
You can make a planned gift in the following ways:
Charitable Bequest
A charitable bequest is one of the simplest ways to create a lasting legacy with Literary Cleveland. By including Literary Cleveland in your will, you can make a meaningful gift of financial assets, property, or other goods that will support the future of writers, readers, and the literary arts in our community. A bequest can be included when creating a new will or added to an existing will through a codicil.
Gifts of Life Insurance
You can make Literary Cleveland the owner/beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy, and your estate will receive an estate tax deduction for the gift. If you make Literary Cleveland the owner and beneficiary of your insurance policy, you will reduce your eventual estate and estate taxes.
Gifts of Retirement Plans
You can designate Literary Cleveland as a beneficiary of an IRA, 401(k), 403(b) or other pension or retirement plan. By naming Literary Cleveland, you will ensure that your estate will receive an estate tax charitable deduction. You can designate a specific amount or a percentage of the death benefit, and you can restrict your gift to a specific purpose or make a general contribution to the College.

Help develop more great authors by supporting writing workshops, reading classes, internships and fellowships, and publishing opportunities such as Gordon Square Review for writers right here in Cleveland.

How many vital stories haven’t been told due to a lack of access to writing and publishing opportunities? Donations like yours help us remove barriers to entry and to provide additional free and low-cost programs like Cleveland Stories, our free place-based writing program for underserved communities.
