Sunday, June 16th, a cozy crowd of James Joyce enthusiasts came in from the rain and celebrated Bloomsday in style with Irish Stouts and gourmet waffles at Bookhouse Brewing. This event marked Literary Cleveland’s first hosting of a Bloomsday event, the historic celebration of James Joyce’s work, which takes place annually on June 16—the same day the events in his novel Ulysses take place.
Bookhouse Brewing brought the beer, Hungry Bear the waffles, and Literary Cleveland brought the literature! The condensed reading of Ulysses was performed by three members of WordStage Ohio, who with theatrical expressions and animated voices brought life to Joyce’s words.
We thank Kevin Tasker for organizing the event and editing Ulysses for the performance, WordStage Ohio for reading, Bookhouse Brewing for hosting us, and all attendees—a wonderful first Bloomsday for Literary Cleveland!
