Worldbuilders' Support Group

Whether the story you’re writing takes place just up the street or in a fantastical world of your own creation, you want your readers to be engrossed in the story’s world. But how do you go about building a world from the ground up? And how do you stop yourself from spending so much time worldbuilding that you never get around to writing the story itself? This three-week class will develop your skills in building immersive fictional worlds. Topics will include creating believable physical geography, developing cultural and social structures that push beyond tired tropes, and populating the world with intriguing and nuanced characters. Each session will also include prompts that will help you translate your worldbuilding ideas into story drafts.

Details: Worldbuilders' Support Group with Johnny Caputo takes place Thursdays, June 26th, July 3rd, and July 10th from 6:30-8:30pm at Lakewood United Methodist Church.‍

‍Scholarships: Two scholarship spots are available for this class for writers in Northeast Ohio. Apply by April 28.
