War: A Haiku in Three Parts

Debra J. Gipson

I.              March

Brave soldiers war march

Towards everlasting death fights

Armed with faith and fear.

II.            Fight

Buried in trenches

Guns blazing, hearts beating fast

Warriors on guard.

III.          Die

They blend to hide wounds

Fields once green, now stained and charred

War’s toll: graves are made.
