From the Anthology
Writing from the Unhoused
In shadows cast by the fading light of day,
A boy dreams of a place where he’ll forever stay.
Underneath the cloak of the moon’s soft glow,
He longs for a home where his spirit can grow.
Across the fields, under skies so wide and blue,
He seeks a sanctuary, a place he can renew.
With every heartbeat, his yearning heart does plea,
For a place to call his own, where he can truly be.
In the quiet of the night, he whispers his plea,
To the stars above, setting his dreams free.
A place where laughter echoes, and tears find ease,
Where every corner whispers stories to seize.
In his dreams, he builds structures from the sand,
Imagining a home shaped by his own hand.
With walls of strength and floors sturdy and true,
A refuge from the world’s storms, where he can brew.
He dreams of a hearth, its warmth a gentle balm,
Where memories gather like a soothing psalm.
In every corner, he hopes for tales to unfurl,
In a home that shelters him, a precious pearl.
Through the window’s glass, he watches the night sky,
Wondering if somewhere, his home does lie.
In the whispers of the breeze, a soft call he hears,
Guiding him to a place to banish his fears.
With each passing day, hope rises in his chest,
As he glimpses shards of the dream he’s obsessed.
In the kindness of strangers, love of friends, he finds,
Fragments of home, on which his heart binds.
Though the path ahead may twist and bend,
He holds fast to hope, till the journey’s end.
For deep within his soul, he senses the sign,
That a home awaits, where his spirit will shine.
So he’ll keep on dreaming, through the night’s embrace,
Holding onto hope, with unwavering grace.
For in his young heart, a fire will always burn,
Yearning for a home, where his soul can return.
